Los Al Connects is an app designed for the Los Alamitos Unified School District to connect people, practices, and ideas.
The app includes district information, resources, and serves as a reference tool for their signature practices.
The app also includes an interactive location based adventure which was designed to offer indoor and outdoor scavenger hunts for the teachers to explore new learning possibilities they can incorporate into their classrooms. There is a screen message that appears asking the user if they would like to enable location services to play the game. The user can decline and location services will not be active within the app. There is a second message that pops up on the Interactive Learning Adventure page asking users if they would like to use the location services to play the game explaining that it is only to locate the hidden objects using proximity and Apples iBeacon technology. The user has full control of whether or not to enable location services at all times. There are two icons with messages on two different pages explaining this option. Data and location information are not collected or monitored by the developer.
The intended users are the parents, teachers, and staff of the Los Alamitos Unified School District.
